New and Updated Filing Categories in the Usage API
Starting in May, the following filing categories will be available in the Usage API, providing a look back on April usage:
mailed_tax_return_copy
– Recipient copies of tax returns mailed to an employee, contractor, or company.amended_return
– Each amended tax filing completed.refile_attempt
– Each new attempt to file a tax return on behalf of a company after a prior failure.delayed_filing
– Tax returns filed late due to no fault of Check.
The refile_attempt category was previously included under delayed_filing and is now being separated for clarity. Until now, delayed_filing was available only in usage summaries—usage records will be added with this release.
All categories relate to the tax_filing resource type. However, the corresponding resource ID will not be available in the Tax Filing API at launch. We’re actively redesigning the Tax Filing API to include all filings—not just failures. We expect to ship this update next quarter.

White-Labeled Communications Beta Launch
Today we are launching the Notifications and Communications Console / APIs Beta. This new feature lets you easily track key customer events and send white-labeled emails to both employers and workers based on those events. The Beta version includes options to send eight of the most critical customer communications.
If you’d like to read more about this feature, you can find an overview and links to each individual Communication available at this Help Center article. If you’d like to be included in the Beta, reach out to your account manager to get started.

Risk Sharing
Check remains the only embedded-payroll provider to offer comprehensive credit- and fraud-loss protection. As part of this commitment, Check automatically downgrades certain companies to standard processing based on their risk profile. We are now offering partners the flexibility to override these risk decisions at any time. This means that at onboarding or after a failed funding, partners can guarantee accelerated processing to key accounts and can override Check’s downgrade decisions. In exchange, partners accept risk for that company for a defined period. For more information, see our help center article.

Per-Employee Company-Defined Attributes Component
We’ve launched a new API parameter that enables users to generate and launch an employee-specific view of the Company-Defined Attributes Component. This allows partners who work with very large employers to view this component for one employee at a time, which will be more performant and better suit the needs of an employer-focused workflow.
